Why ALI certified matters

An automotive lift holds thousands of pounds over your technicians' heads every day. The industry standard for keeping it safe is ANSI/ALI ALOIM, which calls for every lift to be inspected at least once a year by a qualified lift inspector.

Herpel Lift Company has three ALI Certified Lift Inspectors, the first certified in 2014. They follow that standard on every lift, on every visit. You get a detailed written report for each lift, a serialized inspection sticker that matches the report, and photos of anything that needs attention.

That documentation is what manufacturers and insurance carriers recognize, and it gives you a clear record for OSHA.

Common questions

How often do lifts need to be inspected?

The ANSI/ALI ALOIM standard calls for every automotive lift to be inspected at least once a year by a qualified lift inspector. Many shops schedule all their lifts on the same visit each year.

What's the difference between an ALI certified inspection and a general inspection?

An ALI certified inspection is performed by an inspector certified through the Automotive Lift Institute, follows the ANSI/ALI ALOIM standard, and includes a detailed report and serialized sticker for each lift. A general inspection has no required certification and its scope and documentation vary.

What happens if a lift doesn't pass?

The report shows exactly what was found, with photos. Our service team can quote the repairs and schedule them so the lift is back in service quickly.

Do you inspect lifts from other manufacturers?

Yes. We inspect 2-post, 4-post, scissor, in-ground, mobile column and heavy-duty lifts from all major manufacturers.
